ROQUET, María Belén. Mineralization of the Maria Elena pegmatitic deposit, Conlara district, San Luis, Argentina. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2012, vol.28, n.2, pp.23-38. ISSN 1666-9479.
The Maria Elena pegmatite belongs to the Villa Praga-Las Lagunas group of Conlara District, and it is located 185 km from the capital of San Luis province, at 32°32'31''S and 65°28'46''W, and altitude of 920 meters. The country rock is predominantly diorite, with a smaller proportion of micaceous gneisses towards the eastern part of the deposit. The internal zoning of the Maria Elena pegmatite is complex and asymmetric, and following internal zones can be recognized: a border zone, outer zone, middle and external intermediate zone and core, replacement and filling units. The following mineral species have been determined in the study of mineral assemblages: quartz, albite, muscovite, microcline, beryl, columbite-(Mn), bismutite, beyerite, clinobisvanite, zircon, garnet, apatite, tourmaline (black), fluorite, calcite, Mn and Fe oxides. The Maria Elena pegmatite is classified as a rare element class pegmatite, belonging to the beryl type, beryl-columbite subtype and LCT signature, as well as many pegmatites of the Villa Praga-Las Lagunas group.
