Abstract

GAMBA, J.M; GRIMOLDI, A.S  and  PEREZ, M.A. Fenología, rendimiento y tamaño de grano de tres variedades comerciales de maní (Arachis hypogaea L.) en condiciones de campo para la zona central de la provincia de Córdoba, Argentina. Agriscientia [online]. 2014, vol.31, n.1, pp.25-35. ISSN 1668-298X.

The requirements of international markets and the displacement of the peanut sowing area determined the necessity to introduce new varieties of this crop in the Argentine production system. However, the most widespread varieties (ASEM 484 INTA, ASEM 485 INTA, Granoleico) have not been evaluated in relation to their on-farm behavior in the central Córdoba area. The objective of this work was to compare these three commercial peanut varieties in terms of phenology, yield and seed size under on-farm conditions in this area. The varieties were grown and phenology parameters (seedlings emergence, growing cycle, maturity state of the pod) and productive parameters (yield, grain size) were assessed. No differences between the ASEM 484 and ASEM 485 varieties were detected regarding Granoleico but the latter needed more thermal time to reach the R1 and R2 stages, which determined a lower proportion of mature pods at the end of the evaluation period. Since in Granoleico the development of the reproductive structure happened later than in the other varieties, the seedfilling period was delayed. Even though no yield differences were detected, Granoleico showed a lower proportion of bigger seeds (HPS).
