Resumen

KORITSCHONER, J. J; RAMPOLDI, E. A  y  HANG, S. Changes on physical and chemical soil characteristics derived from application of composts of different origin. Agriscientia [online]. 2019, vol.36, n.1, pp.15-23. ISSN 1668-298X.

Different composts obtained by the same methodology were applied to soil. Soil properties of a Typic Haplustoll were evaluated after two years of compost application at 40 Mg ha-1. Six treatments were prepared: CBIO with biosolids compost, CF with cattle-manure compost, CG with poultry-manure compost, CROU with organic urban waste compost, a treatment with inorganic fertilizer (FI) and a non-treated control soil (C0). Regarding the edaphic properties evaluated, it was observed that the soil pH was slightly affected by compost addition according to the characteristics of the compost used. CROU and CBIO increased and decreased the pH, respectively (R2= 0.98). Another significant change regards the soil organic matter of CG treatment which showed changes in content of carbon fractions, although total organic carbon did not change. The C increased 85% and alcali-extractable C increased 24%, with fraccion>53 µm respect to the soil control. Finally, concentration of CuM and ZnM increased in CROU treatment, due to the high concentration of these elements in urban waste compost. Our results show that a single incorporation of compost can modify soil properties due to the multiple materials composted. An early monitoring of soil conditions should be carried out to identify trends and avoid negative environmental effects.
