Abstract

CARPINTERO CAPELL, Heliodoro. Horacio J.A. Rimoldi (1913-2006) and his signification in the Latin American Psychology frame. Interdisciplinaria [online]. 2006, vol.23, n.1, pp.7-16. ISSN 1668-7027.

Horacio J.A. Rimoldi (1913-2006) has been an important figure in Latin American Psychology, in the 20th Century. He was born in Buenos Aires (República Argentina), he was a student of Nobel Prize winner physiologist B.A. Houssay, and then he furthered his training with L.L.Thurstone in Chicago. He was a pioneer in Cognitive Psychology, doing interesting research in problem solving, and stressed the relevance of the placement in which information is introduced in a thinking process for its right solution. He promoted the experimental and quantitative approaches to psychology, and was the founder of some laboratories in Argentina, the United States and Uruguay, and a center for experimental and mathematical Psychology in Buenos Aires (CIIPME), well-known for its interdisciplinary approach to research.
