Abstract

BENCLOWICZ, José Daniel. Unknown fragments of the history of a fighting community: The 1930's in Tartagal (Salta, Argentina). Andes [online]. 2012, vol.23, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

This article reports the first socio-political struggles in Tartagal, so far unknown. The history of the modern struggles in the region can be analyzed since the 1930's, when the first Popular Assembly took place in Tartagal. As I will show, the same claims reappeared in recent struggles, where, as it happened before, the left played a central role. These struggles show the existence of a leftist culture, and lead to the idea of the existence of an absolutely conservative Salta society.

Keywords : Tartagal; Salta; 1930`s; Social and political struggles; Leftist culture.
