Resumen
GOMES, Flávio. About forms and rural experiences of slavery: black peasants in Rio de Janeiro, 1840-1890. Andes [online]. 2013, vol.24, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.
In this paper we consider again the historical connections in the formation of a black peasantry during slavery and the early decades of emancipation. We believe that different peasant experiences- the settlement of black farmers communities in Rio de Janeiro- were established during the economic, cultural and symbolic exchanges of fugitive communities (quilombos and mocambos) and senzalas communities. From the theoretical and methodological point of view, the analysis of these historical connection processes, allows us to see the similarities and continuities in land occupation patterns and expectations and access to land between the last decades of slavery and classical studies.
