Resumen

FIGUEROA SOLA, Eulalia. Political Conflicts and Businesses: The Last Expedition from the Río de la Plata to Alto Peru. Andes [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

The war of independence between 1810 and 1825 in South America required enormous military and economic efforts. Internal conflicts, both between the "fidelistas" and also among the "patriots", as well as the difficulties in obtaining the resources necessary for the support of the troops and for weapons were constant during its development. After 1816, San Martin’s military strategy gave impetus to a military expedition from Salta and Jujuy for fighting against the royalists of the Alto Peru. The analysis of an important and copious documentation offers the possibility of approaching a complex political context in which the different political and economic interests that played a role in the important process of construction of the national states can be observed.

Palabras clave : War; Independence; South America.
