Abstract

WAHREN, Juan. Collective action and youth political participation in the northwest of Argentina: The case of "changos piqueteros" of the UTD (Gral Mosconi, Salta). Andes [online]. 2016, vol.27, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1668-8090.

In this article we analyze the collective actions of young people from northwestern Argentina in the frame of a social movement, specifically the unemployed workers of Gral. Mosconi, province of Salta. We analyze the different identities that these young people build into a social organization that combines collective action protest with communitarian and productive work. We also analyze the youth's different strategies and ways of participating in the organization, which are their motivation and expectations in the collective actions and the social relations between the participants of the social movement. This case study is about young people's political participation in the "Unión de Trabajadores Desocupados" (Unemployed Workers Union) of Gral. Mosconi, Salta
