The articles included in this Dossier were presented, in their first version, as papers in the Symposium "Indigenous societies and systems of domination from an ethno-historical perspective. From the Tawantinsuyu to the crisis of the Spanish colonial system" in the Jornadas Interescuelas/Departamentos de Historia (Argentina). All of them refer to the region that coincided with the Governorate of Tucumán between the XVIth and XVIIth centuries, that is to say, the early period of conformation and consolidation of the space as a province and jurisdiction dependent on the Viceroyalty of Peru and the Audience of Charcas, during the Habsburg period. The Dossier includes eight articles by Judith Farberman and Constanza Taboada; Leticia Carmignani; Florencia Plomer; Isabel Castro Olañeta; Laura Quiroga, Nicolás Hopkins Cardozo and Ana Emilse Alvarado; Marisol García; Virginia Zelada; and Gabriela Sica. The works are articulated around problems and questions that have renewed colonial and ethno- historical studies on the region of Tucumán in recent years, whose central concepts in process of revision are: private conquest, jurisdictions, encomiendas, indigenous reproduction and resistance and ethnic maps among others. We have proposed to present the contributions of each one of the articles and, at the same time, to recover the dialogues that the articles that the Dossier have among themselves and with previous studies of the same or other authors, in order to evaluate the antecedents on the subjects, the advances and the current state of the knowledge in the field.
