Abstract

MENNA, S.  and  SALVATICO, L.. Rationality and methodology in Bacon's Novum Organum. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2000, n.15, pp.139-144. ISSN 1668-8104.

In his Novum Organum Francis Bacon tried to build a method of discovery, a logic «to make and increase knowledge». However, the inductive strategies developed there look like evaluation strategies more than discovery ones, to the point that many authors consider him a forerunner of Popper. In this paper we aim to evaluate the usefulness of the Baconian induction for the New Philosophy of Science, which is interested in the process of scientific discovery.
