Abstract

BASS, Alfredo. Consolidation of a physics paradigm. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2000, n.15, pp.157-162. ISSN 1668-8104.

This paper shows how Einstein had to modify fixed concepts (inertial mass, gravitational mass and gravity) in order to fit a series of new experimental facts into a coherent world ruled by an "improved" paradigm: the relative mechanics paradigm. Newton´s and Einstein´s paradigms are approached with the schema that Thomas S. Kuhn described in his theory as structures, which is an essential aspect of knowledge development from any historical point of view. The paper concludes with Einstein´s proposal on how to consolidate a paradigm.
