Abstract

COCERES, Claudia María. Patrimony and new technologies. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2002, n.18, pp.217-232. ISSN 1668-8104.

The new communicational technologies in a context of globalization, make Cultural Heritage to be considered through other perspectives and to look deeply into the complexity of the problem. Dimensions must be reflected not as a mere technological process but from economic, political, social educational and communicational perspective, where old issues about heritage are now seen from another new viewpoint. The problem of traffic and commerce of arqueological pieces, denunciations via email, e-commerce, etc., and on the other hand, the possibility of showing the heritage through virtual museums, transforming its diffusion and its space of interaction with public generating cultural changes. These changes must be considered in order to make a media appropriation that improves communication where researchers, heritage and cultural knowledge can accede to a general, massive public and as heterogeneous as this channel enables, provided with its large reach. Avoiding the dichotomy of considering the media as good or bad ones but being conscious that it depends on the intention of their use is that I point out some issues about this use regarding to the Cultural Heritage.
