Abstract

Today university faces deep mutation of its surroundings and new challenges. These changes are related to the accelerated creation of new knowledge, the globalización of superior education and the great competition among institutions. It demands additional resources to push the educational redesign of contents and the certification of carears in order to assure institutional survival. The development of information and communication technologies modify the traditional paradigm of teaching and require an institutional redefinition with the purpose of sustaining a new type of knowledge assimilations centered in studen's learning. The necessity of an efficient administration of material and human resources bringing with it the theories of organization and university management. The theory of the agency and its model of "principal-agent" is an answer to these expectations, of modifying university management giving it a professional character to the role of actors in the different institutional instances.
