Resumen

RIVERO SIERRA, Fulvio A.. Nets with holes: Conditions of the reception of bolivian migrants in Lules - Tucumán. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2006, n.31, pp.67-78. ISSN 1668-8104.

This paper aims at questioning the theory of networks for migratory chains. It takes the case of Bolivian migrants residing in Lules, Tucumán, Argentina. It suggests the concept of “networks with holes” in order to give account for the fact that some ways of settlement in Lules can be explained through the theory of networks, while some of them not. Explanations of a sociological level are proposed, based upon the analysis and articulation of different variables: generational, social, economic, cultural, and the place of origin of the migrants. The argument is founded upon interviews carried out during field work. This paper is part of a broader research which studies the conditions of the reproduction of the cultural identity of Bolivian people residing in Lules, in the conceptual framework of a sociology of culture.
