Abstract

GARRIDO, Hilda Beatriz. Women and work in the area of Trancas (province of Tucumn. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2006, n.31, pp.209-230. ISSN 1668-8104.

This paper aims at analyzing the condition and situation of women in Trancas, a rural area in the northwestern Argentinean Province of Tucumn, from a gender perspective by looking at these women's roles as producers and reproducers within small independent growers' kinship relationships. These relationships take shape within a changing horizon where the constitution of family has undergone deep economic, social and political transformations. We are interested in diving into different phenomena that affect women's lives and that include among others the following ones: their incorporation into the labor market (formal and informal one), the turn into being household heads, teenage maternity, new arrangements within the family circle, and migration.

Keywords : Family; Gender; Reproduction; Women; Work.
