Abstract

ORTIZ, Gabriela  and  SELDES, Verónica. Importance and limitations for the study of archaeological osseous rest from the subandean region of province of Jujuy (area of San Francisco river. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2007, n.32, pp.255-268. ISSN 1668-8104.

Human osseous archeological rest coming from the foot of the mountain forest of the Province de Jujuy (sub-area of San Francisco river) are analyzed for the first time. Most of them come from recaptures done by amateurs, that's why their high level of fragmentation, although rest from systematic excavations are included in the demonstration. The places where the rests come from are: Aguas Negras, Media Luna, Arroyo del Medio, Fraile Pintado y El Sunchal, all of them assigned to the Formative moment of the región (800 AC-400 DC). The characteristics of this material are presented, and from the first analysis done, the importance and limitations for this type of study are discussed, owing mainly, to the preservation conditions in Subtropical environment.
