TANARO, Martha Isabel. Aplication of genetic psychology based methodology in bilingual first literacy processes in indigenous Pilagá children Qompi, Pozo del Tigre. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2008, n.34, pp.75-89. ISSN 1668-8104.

This research attempts to get to know the learning process of written language in indigenous children whose mother tongue is Pilagá, It is carried out in the first school grades in both, Spanish and Pilagá languages. The objectives of the researt project were: To guide the first reading and writing learning process applying psychogenesis theory based methodology. To reformulate and adjust the method as required by classroom practices. The last objective referect to the processes that occur at school: the introduction to written language: Pilagá and Spanish. At first it was carried out with a methodology based on Jean Piaget theories, applied to language acquisition processes mainly by Emilia Ferreiro and Ana Teberovsky, and by others. Classroom work showed that it is not possible to use this methodology with children belonging to social groups in whose culture no written language exists, specifically, indigenous pilagá children. Jerome Bruner's theories, and also Lev Vygotski's before, have shown that culture affects the way children develop their formal learning (Bruner J., 1997). Learning and thought, affirms Bruner, are always situated in a cultural context and depend on the use of cultural resources that give the mind its shape and extent The empirical study has been carried out (and goes on) at 401 School of Qompi neighbourhood, Pozo del Tigre, Formosa. In the light of the above mentioned theories, it was gradually shown that there was a need for a reformulation of the methodology. One of the main inconveniencies is that the children do not belong to a literate culture and that in the environment in which they live, exists no written language. On the other hand, it was also shown the need to carry out a study on these children's introduction to the use of language.
