QUIROZ, Angélica. The rite of handing over command from young leaders in the closing ceremony of nativity scenes and veneration acts. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2009, n.36, pp.119-135. ISSN 1668-8104.

Nativity scenes contitute one of the most valuable expressions of the symbolic heritage in the province of Jujuy. During the period that includes the preparations of its assemblage -beginning of December- and the closing ceremony -about the middle of January- the nativity scene makes up a scenery of manifold meanings where the constant feature of the sacred is translated, from the personal aspect, into an honorific selection of its representatives. In this paper, there will be an attempt to categorize, from the theory of the observance of formalities, behavioural and functional expressions of the main actors that are involved in the transmission of commands from young leaders or nativity scene leaders in the closing ceremony. Thus, intitutional categories of the ritual aspect will be used where roles and status legitimate a space of interaction that is conventionalized by ancestral models.
