The main hypothesis of this work addresses the historical characteristic of the violence against the biological points of view of the violence itself. The concepts of violence and culture of the modern contractualist philosophy will be analyzed in order to argue in favor of the historical construction of the violence. Then, the connection between violence and culture will be studied considering modern sociological theories that take into account the concept of civilization process of Norbert Elias, and the concept of habitus of Pierre Bourdieu. Finally, some thoughts from Tzvetan Todorov, and Pierre Clastres about the construction of the american otherness will be analized, interpreting them from the european dominant enlightened narrative point of view. At last our work concludes with one an interpretation that tries to explain the dominant account on otherness in our region, stating specially the relationship that exist between the power of categorization (the classification of others), and its indissoluble bond with the use of physical and symbolic violence along our local and regional History.
