The first results of the study in Corte Blanco, located in Quebrada de Tastil, Salta, Argentina, are shown. The study site was undertaken from three analytical scales: the first was centred on the conditions of the site location; the second, on the architectural analysis and a third, which conducted the study of recovered materials. Information obtained from different levels of analysis does not allow the assignment of Corte Blanco within residential settlements category. Instead, the evidence indicates that the place may have been related to the use of additional economic resources, such as the forages of high valley located in its surrounding area. In the light of current new evidence, the "economically self-sufficient village model" traditionally proposed is discussed.
