Abstract

RIGO, Daiana Yamila  and  DONOLO, Danilo Silvio. (The process to find, adapt and validate a measurement instrument: Decisions adopted in the Kitchen of the researcher). Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2013, n.44, pp.87-99. ISSN 1668-8104.

Often there are writings which reveal the finished process of research, its results, methods and objectives, presented in a way that conveys clarity, linearity, in the absence of contradictions and obstacles. Features that make the work of researcher activity reflecting little real effort and the back room that lies behind the work in our desks, laboratories and fields of study. Research brings with it a share of cunning, a pinch of practical knowledge that comes into play before and during the implementation to the process. We will deal in this writing of the difficulties encountered and decisions made in the adaptation and translation of an instrument that assesses intelligence from the perspective Triarchic postulated by Sternberg (1985), more specifically the STAT - Sternberg Triarchic Abilities Test - which provides a quantitative measure of analytical, creative and practical skills of the intellect. The aim is to show what happens in the kitchen of the investigator, for which, in the first instance, it refers to the process of searching for the instrument of data collection, in order to discuss what were the strategies implemented, describing engineered resources. Secondly, described the criteria considered for the translation and adaptation of the STAT, refers to the cultural, linguistic and contextual variables considered in the process, is also working on the formatting characteristics that are delimited for the presentation of the test, the test protocol and the answer sheet; well as the requirements for the administration of the test, according to the norm of informed consent. Finally, some aspects of the score of the test with respect to the criteria that are specified in its manual.
