PIERONI, María Josefina Pérez. Evidence of modeling techniques in late pre-hispanic and colonial ceramic materials of the jujuy puna, Argentina. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2015, n.47, pp.157-179. ISSN 1668-8104.

In the context of the study of the ceramic manufacture sequences in two areas of the Jujuy puna, for late prehispanic and colonial times, in this paper we present evidence of the modeling techniques. The attributes employed were registered both for fragments from excavation and superficial recollection, as well as for vessels deposited in museum collections. These attributes include marks and traces of modeling and observations of the orientation of non plastic inclusions in binocular microscope, contrasting the information obtained with the available archaeological literature on the subject. Evidence of the modeling trough coiling was registered in highest proportion, followed by those with traces of drawing with the fingers and, in less degree, by those with wheel throwing traces. In some cases, different modeling stages or modeling in parts are evidenced in some restricted vessels. The observation of the orientation of inclusions was not an informative attribute. With these techniques, different morphologies were modeled, both open and restricted, and we also observed continuity through time of these aspects of the manufacturing sequences
