ALDERETES, Lelia Inés Albarracín De. The higher education certificate in ibe in the universidad nacional de Santiago del Estero: challenges of a university course on an indigenous language. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2016, n.50, pp.135-145. ISSN 1668-8104.

The status of the Quichua language in the field of education is very different in each of the Quichua-speaking countries. States such as Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia have been carrying out educational experiences for many years, which has enable them perform assessments and, in some cases, a restatement of what has been done.           This is not the case in Argentina. Different situations have prevented or truncated the development of education plans in this language: a racist and discriminatory conception of language; the restricted range of academic research on Aboriginal languages; the circulation of inappropriate and obsolete library material; the European-like educational policies with a tradition of more than one century; the limited stimulus in the formation about Sociolinguistics, and the lack of scientific definition as regards object, theories, and methods of teaching in relation to indigenous languages.           Although in national scale there has been significant progress in legislation on indigenous peoples with regard to education, many of these laws, decrees and resolutions end up being dead letter. However, in the latter year, those of us who are dedicated to the research and study of the Quichua language, see the creation of the Higher Education Certificate in IBE (Intercultural Bilingual Education) with a major in Quichua language, with great satisfaction, course which begun to be held in 2012 at the Universidad Nacional de Santiago de Estero. In this dissertation, I will carry out an analysis and a projection of this valuable experience
