Resumen

LOPEZ, Liz Antonella. Tthe central market supply of Tucumán: Shaft of patrimonial disputes [1933-2014]. Cuad. Fac. Humanid. Cienc. Soc., Univ. Nac. Jujuy [online]. 2017, n.52, pp.101-117. ISSN 1668-8104.

The Central Marketplace of Supply of Tucumán, a fruit and vegetable buying and selling building opened in 1933 in the neighborhood called La Ciudadela in San Miguel de Tucumán, was, since its incorporation into the fabric of the city, the identity shaft of excellence of the place. Fulfilling a decisive role in the daily life of the neighborhood, the market created an urban labour fabric and social network shaped by its tireless commercial rhythm.           The cultural and historical thickness of the building, the senses by which it was impregnated and its relevant aesthetic value contributed to the fact that in 1997, before being closed, it was declared a Cultural and Provincial Heritage in order to safeguard its architectural structure as a testimony of the collective memory of the people from Tucuman.           Years later, the old building of the Abasto was architecturally intervened, building the Central Shopping Tucumano (2012) and the five-star hotel, Hilton Garden Inn (2014). However, the extended time span from 1997 to 2012 was marked by a complex web of economic interests, political decisions and civil society interventions that modeled the heritage treatment of the emblematic fruit and vegetable center and that will be reconstructed thanks to the analysis of the discourses of the graphic press of Tucumán during the period mention above.           In this work I intend to reflect on the Mercado de Abasto as an architectural and cultural relic and to demonstrate its controversial patrimonialization process; the use of this concept allows to adopt a patrimonial perspective as the social construction that refers to identity and analisys of the actors involved in this process, as well as to the set of meanings, negotiations, disputes and agreements reached among them

Palabras clave : La Ciudadela; Marketplace of Supply; Patrimonialization process; Tucumán.
