RIA. Rev. investig. agropecu. [online]. 2015, vol.41, n.3, pp.282-282. ISSN 1669-2314.

Most selection plans in pig breeding are based on the reduction of back-fat thickness (BF) as mean for improving feed conversion (FC) and carcass lean content. The present work investigates possible associations between Single Nucleotid Polymorphism (SNP) of the following genes: IGF2 3072G>A; CTSD 70 G>A; TBC1D1 219G>A; MC4R 1426A>G; FABP3 1811G>C on growth rate (GR), back fat (BF) and feed convertion (FC) in individuals of a subpopulation of Landrace pigs maintained at EEA INTA Pergamino. Due to the genomic imprinting effect of the IGF2 gene, mating were designed starting with two sires heterocygote (AG) with 30 sows AG, GG. All individuals were negative for the allele RYR1 to avoid confusing effects of both genes on the analyzed phenotypic characters. The trial responded to a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design. Association study for SNP CTSD 70G> A was not carried out due to the lack of polymorphism. There was only association between SNPs of IGF2 and TBC1D1 genes and GR, BF, or FC. A major effect of the Apat allele of IGF2 on BF and FC in reducing BF and FC indexes (1.8 mm and 0.3kg, p<0.05) and differences in GR among genotypes of the TBC1D1 gene were confirmed. Because of the magnitude of the effect on EGD, P2 and CA found in pigs with respect to inheritance Apat allele of IGF2 gene; this SNPs may be a useful tool in marker-assisted selection in breeding plans
