Resumen

PINEIRO, V  y  ARELOVICH, H.M. Potencial impacto económico de la suplementación con forraje amonizado en cría bovina para la región semiárida sur de Argentina. RIA. Rev. investig. agropecu. [online]. 2018, vol.44, n.3, pp.351-358. ISSN 1669-2314.

The objective of this work is to evaluate the impact on the production and the income that would generate the incorporation of low-quality ammoniated forages to feed breeding beef cattle in a semiarid region. For the purposes of this work, the southwest of the Province of Buenos Aires and corresponding subregions would be considered as the typical representative area. The rate of digestion and the voluntary intake of low quality forages can be increased through ammonification by the direct application of a urea-water solution. Marginal analysis, incremental benefits and costs were determined within a simulation applied to the development of the technique; including balance points for the current situation and different levels of production. Incremental incomes are observed in all subregions due to the incorporation of ammoniated forage to the production system. For a pregnancy rate of 85%, all subregions would be producing above their break-even point with a safety margin greater than 32%. The main variable that seems to affect the economic results of ammonification is the initial pregnancy rate of the herd.

Palabras clave : Low-quality forages; Ammoniation; Marginal analysis; Cow-calf operation.
