Abstract

CARBONELLI, Juan Pablo  and  GAMARRA, Lucila. La construcción del concepto de cultura en la arqueología argentina. Enfoques [online]. 2011, vol.23, n.2, pp.69-103. ISSN 1669-2721.

In this work we will analyze how the concept of culture was built in Argentinean archeology. To achieve this goal, we will review each theoretical framework, reflecting upon their impact in the definition of the term, the influence of the historical and social context in the activity of this discipline, and presenting an epistemological rupture on the measuring and construction instruments of archeological cultures. To exemplify our analysis, we will study the Ampajanguense, a site with a varied nominalization in consonance with a shift in what was understood as culture in archeology.

Keywords : Archeology; Culture; Constructions; Epistemologic rupture; Object.
