Abstract

MENDES DIZ, Ana María; SCHWARZ, Patricia K. N.  and  CAMAROTTI, Ana Clara. Prácticas sexuales en usuarios de drogas y riesgo de transmisión del VIH/sida. Rev. argent. sociol. [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.13, pp.150-163. ISSN 1669-3248.

The objective of this study is to analyze about knowledge, beliefs, assessments and practices in relation to HIV/AIDS and drug use of not occasional consumption drug users in four argentine cities-Rosario, Mendoza, Neuquén and Buenos Aires. We worked with an intentional sampling according to gender, age and level of education. The sample is composed of 355 people ranged from 12-59 years who answered a structured questionnaire validated in earlier studies. We found differences between drug injection users (DIU) and those who do not use such a method about the unsafe sex in relation to the transmission of HIV. Data show in the DIUs more exchange of sexual partners and a less stable kind of ties. There are also similarities between drug users and the general population: they share the same pattern of sexual practice that refers to reduced care practices in stable relationships.

Keywords : Sexuality; HIV/aids; Drug users; Stable relationship; Occasional relationship.
