Abstract

MANTELLI, Nora. The captive as model woman. Aljaba [online]. 2005, vol.9, pp.161-173. ISSN 1669-5704.

This article proposes an interpretation not centred on the male of the female character of Sophocles's tragedy Ajax. The aim is to show that the captive Tecmessa, through her silence, her prudence and her devaluation with regard to the woman of the epic constitutes a model representation for the virile archetype of the fifth century.

Keywords : Tragedy; Gender; Representation.
