Abstract

KETTERER ROMERO, Lucy. The gender mainstreaming in Chilean education: ¿ what happens in the Galvarino schools, the native capital in Araucanía Region?. Aljaba [online]. 2008, vol.12, pp.21-32. ISSN 1669-5704.

The following article aims at showing some preliminary results of a research called "Socio cultural evaluation of the educational management in high school in terms of ethnicity, cultural diversity and gender in the Mapuche commune of Galvarino: A student analysis of its teachers and educational community". The results that are shown are mainly related to gender and its incorporation into the teaching-learning processes, these results show the lack of incorporation in the educational process planning as well as the classroom activities. It is a problem that restrains the development of equal opportunities for a major group of young women, mainly of Mapuche women, given the traditional gender roles that emerge from the contexts in which they live their experiences on a daily basis, in this case in a school context.

Keywords : Gender; Mainstreaming; Education; School.
