In order to constitute a specific museological archive and reservoir for the cultural history of women, the promotion and the art production, a group of women, professionals and feminists started activities to foster the Museo de la Mujer. We want to harvest the heritage of the women who make history side by side with their people with the certainty that the totality of the cumulative property is not either a neutral nor fixed cultural capital but a dialectical one, and meaningful from the gender perspective. The aim of Museo de la Mujer is to exhibit the cultural reality signed by the inequality of gender relationships together with its historical origin, while reflecting at the same time the development of its scientific analysis. For to fulfil yours objectives, the Women's Museum has requested to grant it the site of the exWomen's Jail located on Humberto Primo Nº 378 of the City of Buenos Aires in which to undertake its activities. We feel that it is a significant location, whose history will allow women to identify themselves within those walls.
