Abstract

DIOS HERRERO, Mariana de. Domestic employment, from mother to daughter? A case study of two generations. Aljaba [online]. 2011, vol.15, pp.189-204. ISSN 1669-5704.

This article traces the experience of research in Santa Rosa (La Pampa) for the year 2007, which studied the speeches of two generations of maids, mothers and daughters. Especially we examine the prospects of our informants and we focus the analysis on the continuities and changes, adaptations and fissures this way of working today. Furthermore, we explore the interior lives of women workers around the constitution of their identities. The study was conducted through the use of the biographical approach. The methodology, enabled the study of life trajectories and the construction of life stories. Present the stories as a paradigmatic case of Clare and Grace, mother and child domestic workers.

Keywords : Domestic employment; Identity; Life history; Life paths.
