Abstract

GOICOVICH, Francis. The permeable frontier of the finicolonial society: an approximation to the juridical use of the social imaginary (Santiago de Chile, 1804). Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2006, n.5, pp.03-24. ISSN 1669-9041.

The social complexity of the latest days of colonial period is studied from the perspective of a judicial case, in which is possible to see that the social frontier between elite and common people didn't have the stronghold that the criollo group tried to give it since the second half of XVIII century, because a part of their members used to pass it for partaking of some practices of the lowest social stratus.

Keywords : Colonial period; Social history; Creole aristocracy; Social imaginary.
