Abstract

PAGES BLANCH, Joan. What would be due to teach today of history in the obligatory school, what would the children and the young people have to learn of the past, and how?. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2007, n.6, pp.17-33. ISSN 1669-9041.

This article reflects on the relationships between history and the history of schooling within the framework of the debate on the relationships between scientific knowledge and school knowledge. It assumes that school contents can stem from different sources. And that the sense and value attributed to them may change according to specific political and social contexts. Also, it includes an overview of the situation of history teaching around the western world and suggests some ideas tending to introduce changes in practices in a realistic way.

Keywords : Teaching of history; Contents; School knowledge; Learning; Teachers training.
