Abstract

TEJERINA, María Elina  and  CORBACHO, Myriam Rosa. Miguel Ragone's goverment in Salta: between ideal and reality, 1973-1974. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2007, n.6, pp.253-277. ISSN 1669-9041.

Since the middle of the 20th century, the province of Salta was characterized by the prevalence of governments of Peronist sign. Thus, after the so-called Argentine Revolution -and after almost eighteen years of proscription - the Justicialist formula Miguel Ragone-Olivio Rios was triumphant in the general elections of 1973. This progress report studies the resistences, tensions, and negotiations faced by Ragone's government until the intervention dictated by a decree issued during President Isabel Martínez de Perón's office.  Also it analizes the composition of the Legislative Power, the debates generated, and the governmental actions which took place during the short constitucional period 1973/1974- with the aim of finding an explanation of the alliances and counter-alliances within Peronism and in the opposition parties, their discords and agreements. The different parties identities as revealed by the debates in the provincial Legislature during this complex period are also taken into account. Session acts, local newspapers, and interviews will be analyzed to give an account of the topic in question.

Keywords : Government; Peronist; Province of Salta; Justicialist party; Constitucional period.
