Abstract

VITRY, Christian et al. Recent research and new contributions to the study of incahuasi, the one of the Inca's Chair. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2007, n.6, pp.303-324. ISSN 1669-9041.

We released the new advancements in the research taken place in the Incahuasi area (gorge of Incamayo in the province of Salta). This settlement, discovered in the early 20th century, was partially studied by different researchers. The possibility of having the general plan of the place along with some observations of the local architecture allowed us to confirm the pre-existence of the settlement during pre-inca periods and its possible use in the interior of the system of sites of the Inca Period. Up to now, Incahuasi is the place with the biggest constructed area in the region with buildings for administrative purpose which are placed in a strategic place of the social landscape of the Incas.

Keywords : Inca's Chair; Center administrative; Plan of the Incahuasi site; Incas; Archaeological landscape.
