The configuration of power in the Ottoman Empire underwent profound changes after the conquest of Constantinople. This work focuses on the description and analysis of the distribution of power in the Ottoman Empire since the second half of the sixteenth century when the Ottoman Court strengthened its position as the last bastion of power. The transition from the sixteenth to the seventeenth century witnessed the conflicting relations among viziers, members of the imperial family, religious men of high status, eunuchs of the Palace and the military in order to have influence in politics and in the process of decision-making. The factional politics and the favoritism were aspects of government strategies of the Sultans in this period. Although the political, military and socio-economic difficulties of the Ottomans were interpreted as the demonstration of Ottoman decline, the historiographical revision of the decline paradigm has highlighted the word "transformation" to describe the adaptability of the Empire to the problems of the time.
