The quebracho of the chaqueña zone acquired an indisputable place during the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona of the year 1888. The import in Spain of the tannic extract of the quebracho tree took place thanks to Carlos Castel y Clemente, the maximum responsible for the production of the catalogue of vegetables that could serve for the Spanish factories dedicated to the curtición of the skin, and teacher of the Engineers Special School of Mounts.
