Modern theories of the elite interpret the complexity of social bondings, as they conceive a society formed by a governing minority and a governed majority. From this point of view, the the basis of social structure is connected with not only the inner organization of the governing group (Mosca, Pareto and Michels) but also the socialization related to the basis of social structure (Wright Mills). The proposal of this research is to characterize the governing classes through the achievement of "the political class" (Mosca), "the elite" (Pareto and Michels) and "the power elite" (Wright Mills), together with figurational sociology (Elias), genetic structuralism (Bourdieu) and governmental practices of biopower (Foulcault).
