Resumen

ACEVEDO-DIAZ, José-Antonio; VAZQUEZ-ALONSO, Ángel; ACEVEDO-ROMERO, Pilar  y  MANASSERO-MAS, María-Antonia. Evaluación de creencias sobre ciencia, tecnología y sus relaciones mutuas. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2005, vol.2, n.6, pp.73-99. ISSN 1850-0013.

This article evaluates the beliefs of an ample sample of students regarding the concepts of science, technology, and their mutual relationships, using as its basis nine questions found in The Opinion Questionnaire About Science, Technology, and Society. The results show that technology is mainly identified either with its products or as an applied science. The comparison between these beliefs to those of an ample sample of teachers, using a selection of three of the previously mentioned questions, allows one to determine that the qualitative profiles are similar and that there are but a few quantitative differences. It is therefore assumed, that the understanding of these concepts in the Spanish scientific education hasn't yet been achieved. To try to correct this problem, we strongly ask for a science syllabus that concurs more with the Science-Technology- Society (STS) views and orientations, as well as some specific teacher training regardig the above related matter.

Palabras clave : Scientific education; Evaluation of beliefs; The nature of science; The nature of technology; Relationships between science and technology; STS.
