Abstract

ALBORNOZ, Mario. Los problemas de la ciencia y el poder. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2007, vol.3, n.8, pp.47-65. ISSN 1850-0013.

This paper makes, from a philosophical point of view, a review of the articulation between science and power. Thus, it situates science policy within the broader sphere of various public policies, and reviews its history. In addition, the author presents the relations between this policy and different social and cultural values, as well as the tensions that may arise from them. Finally, it is addressed the way in which science policy expresses the confrontation between diverging interests and the form in which they are compatible with the pursuit of equity and democracy.

Keywords : Science policy; Technology policy; Power; Cultural values; Social values.
