Abstract

This article presents the "Educational Goals 2021: the education that we want for the bicentenaries' generation" project. It was developed by the Ibero-American Organization for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and the Ibero-American Conference of Education Ministers. It aspires to promote the education as a generator of change in the Ibero-American societies, most of them struck by poverty, social inequity and the new rush of uncertainty about the World's financial future. The OEI aims at installing a new kind of debate between the actors implied in the educational situation of the Ibero- American countries, as a way to identify the best possible expectations for the region and the best possible means to achieve them.
