Abstract

DAGNINO, Renato. A construção do Espaço Ibero-americano do Conhecimento, os estudos sobre ciência, tecnologia e sociedade e a política científica e tecnológica. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2009, vol.4, n.12, pp.93-114. ISSN 1850-0013.

This article is builded under the idea that the construction of an Ibero American knowledge space demands narrowing the existing gap between the orientation of Science and Technology Policy (STP) and the perspective of the Studies on Science, Technology and Society (SSTS). This gap can be characterized by analyzing the situations of three countries in particular: Argentina, Brazil and Spain. This work will be focused on them. Its objectives are: 1) to explain why one of the purposes of the SSTS, the introduction of its perspective in the agenda of STP, through public debate and the training of professionals, has not been reached; (2) to argue that this gap has been expanding because the policymakers of the STP are influenced by the analytical framework of the Theory of Innovation, a-critically adopted in Ibero-America; (3) to show that convergence between SSTS and the STP depends on a debate within the research community about SSTS and on the design of strategies for extension, research and teaching on SSTS that can lead to the formation of a new generation of policy-makers.
