Abstract

DUARTE MASI, Sergio. Paraguayan scientists and entrepreneurial attitude. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2013, vol.8, n.23, pp.67-87. ISSN 1850-0013.

The purpose of this research is the production of valid and relevant information to promote the scientific entrepreneurship in Paraguay. We seek to understand the determinants of the attitude and perceptions assumed by scientific entrepreneurs in our country. We collected and classified information on the performance and characteristics of researchers that are currently engaged in scientific work. Then we applied a questionnaire to these same researchers. The results of the study show that there is some agreement among stakeholders regarding access to public, private and international resources, and to universities and research centers. This fact determines the production and influence in Paraguay’s scientific work. We state that Paraguay’s national scientific community still does not have neither the capacity nor the expertise to manage its own resources to research and communicate its work. It is important tat we keep in mind that there is a low financial support from public universities and state agencies. However, scientific training still remains a key element for the development of research in Paraguay
