Resumen
ROMAN, A. S; MENDEZ, C. M y ARES, A. E. Corrosion of an austenitic stainless steel in biodiesel. An. AFA [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.3, pp.128-134. ISSN 0327-358X.
Essentially there is a great interest in the use of renewable energy sources such as biodiesel, attributable to great advantages with minimal damage to the environment. However, handling of biofuels can lead to corrosion problems due to the incompatibility of biodiesel with metallic materials. In the present work is intended to evaluate the corrosion susceptibility in biodiesel of an austenitic stainless steel using electrochemical techniques. Measures at open circuit potential versus time, potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry assays were performed. The results show a good resistance to corrosion of stainless steel tested in biodiesel obtained from soybean oil.
