Resumen

DE LA CASA, A.C  y  NASELLO, O.B. Periodic analysis of hidrological conditions in the province of Cordoba, Argentina. An. AFA [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.4, pp.170-176. ISSN 0327-358X.

Global climate change has a direct impact on the availability of water from region altering precipitation (PP) and evapotranspiration (ET) regimes. In the central territory of Argentina these two variables have presented different trends in the period 1940-2010. While the potential evapotranspiration (PET) has no obvious signs of change, the PP has experienced a significant increase, also showing a regular succession of break points, every 10 years or so, with opposes trends between periods. The hydrological condition of a region is difficult to measure directly, continuous and prolonged, so usually it is estimated by water balance models. In this paper the hydrological behavior of the central region of Argentina using meteorological data of all 7 stations located in the province of Córdoba for the period 1970 to 2012, and also a longer Pilar series starting at 1925 are evaluated. From PP records and estimated values of the ETP regional climate water balance was calculated using the method of Thornthwaite .Both the input variables and model output were evaluated with the non-linear method of Tomé-Miranda. The results show that the water balance, represented by water deficiency, manifests periods that have similar frequency PP and PET, with an inverse relationship in the first case and directly in the second, but, reaching a more significant standard as indicator atmospheric state when it is contrasts with the behavior of indicators of climate variability such as the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). An inverse relationship between the evolution of partial slops PP and PET is also noted, so that episodes of water shortage (deficiency) are compounded not only by reduced rainfall but also by increased atmospheric demand

Palabras clave : Water balance; Water deficiency; Partial trends; PDO.
