Resumen

STOLER FLORES, D  y  AGUIRRE VARELA, G. Experimental study of the turbulence effect on the cloud droplet spectrum. An. AFA [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.2, pp.56-59. ISSN 0327-358X.

The purpose of this work is to study empirically the evolution of droplet size spectrum in a warm cloud under perturbations that affect the movement of the air parcel where the cloud is located. This study attempts to provide data regarding the effect of turbulence on the development of the size spectrum of cloud droplets, along with growth mechanisms of drops in warm clouds. The experimental design consists of a cloud produced by using an ultrasonic generator, this provides a continuous income of micrometric droplets within an acrylic box. First it is determined that the cloud is stable (the spectrum of droplet size does not change) at short times. Additionally, the cloud is characterized by its liquid water content and energy dissipation rate. Subsequently, the spectra of droplet size in the cloud are compared in the absence and presence of sudden perturbations.

Palabras clave : Turbulence; Warm rain; Dissipation rate.
