Abstract
MEZZADRI, Juan José; GUEVARA, Martin; D'OSVALDO, Daniel and PIEDIMONTE, Fabián. Laminoplastia cervical: relación entre descompresión anterior, evolución y diámetro del canal espinal. Rev. argent. neurocir. [online]. 2007, vol.21, n.1. ISSN 1850-1532.
Objective: To determine the relationship among anterior decompression grade, postoperative outcome and spinal canal diameter. Method: We performed a prospective study in 80 operated levels (20 cases, mean age: 61.24 years-old, males 14 - females 6), with the diagnosis of cervical mielopathy secondary to canal stenosis treated by an expansive laminoplasty. The neurological grade was measured with the Zeidman-Ducker Scale, canal diameter with Pavlov index in x-rays and anterior compression with Nagata et al. criteria in magnetic resonance. In the operated levels the differences in percentages among postoperative outcome, anterior compression and Pavlov index were measured with t-student test. Results: At the operated levels (n:80), improvement in neurological status (p=0.053) and anterior decompression grade (p=0.554) after surgery did not have a significative relationship with Pavlov index. Conclusion: After cervical laminoplasty anterior decompressioin grade and postoperative outcome did not have any relationship with spinal canal diameter.
