Abstract

GAITAN, Juan José  and  LOPEZ, Carlos Rodolfo. Analysis of soil gradient in Andean Patagonia Region. Cienc. suelo [online]. 2007, vol.25, n.1, pp.53-63. ISSN 1850-2067.

The relationships among location, mean annual precipitation and nine edaphic variables were studied for 95 profiles of volcanic soils throughout the Andean Region of the provinces of Neuquen, Rio Negro and Chubut. A cluster analysis conducted with the edaphic variables at two depths (0-20 cm and 30-60 cm) indicated five main groups. Principal component analysis (PCA) allowed to differentiate the groups for the axis 1. This axis was positively related to longitude, indicating an increase of pH (NaF), organic C and water retention capacity, and a decrease of pH (H2O), pH (KCl) and bulk density from the xeric steppe soils at east to the udic forest soils at west.
