Abstract

NUNEZ, Enrique A; RUIZ, Mónica; CHUK, Daniel  and  ROSSINI, Bruno. Determinación de perfiles de humedad en suelos homogéneos a través de un método geoeléctrico. Cienc. suelo [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.2, pp.271-277. ISSN 1850-2067.

The need for an efficient use of water resources, particularly in semi-desertic areas, together with the growing attention to moisture levels at different stages of crop growth to maximize production, have led in recent years to the need of methods for measuring soil moisture in a precise, robust and simple way. This article presents a geoelectric measuring device which determines apparent resistivity, which is closely related to soil moisture. Although the primary objective of the design of this device is the irrigation optimization of sandy-loam soils of western Argentina, it has been successfully tested in other clay and loam soils. The moisture values obtained with the device were highly correlated to soil gravimetric moisture values. The device provides not only a point but a whole moisture profile in depth. The device allows for both a mobile version and a fixed one, equipped with wireless transmission.

Keywords : Moisture distribution; Resistivity; Vertical electrical sounding.
